Teenager's Video

The present video we watched in class mainly focused on adolescents and how they feel and the changes they are constantly going through. During the video I got the opportunity of learning many things about the teenage life that I am also going through. I learned between many things that mainly this is the hardest phase of your life you go through and that you start to see constant big changes and its like the person has another brain. This is one of the hardest phases a person goes through because they are constantly changing there moods and feel like no one really understand them, specially there parents. Also I learned that if the teenagers constantly do not use there muscles they may possibly loose it and the more you use a certain part of your brain the more advanced it gets and as a result you become more intelligent. Sleeping is a main thing that adolescences need for their brain to function well. Adolescence need an average of 9 and a half hours of sleep to make their brain function to the best of its ability. Also sleeping is a main thing to rejuvenate your brain cells that are commonly needed for someone to have a good day and work and also give the best of him or her.

How Brain Works

  1. Hemisphere regarding the brain is the 2 sides in which the brain is divided in left and right. Usually the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body and the left side of the brain controls the right part of the human body.
  2. The right and left side of the brain are both responsible of controlling certain functions on the human body. The major differences are that the right side controls more the understanding of things and remembering them and also your body position and the position of things. The left side by the other hand controls the understanding and use of language like listening, reading, speaking and writing.
  3.   .  The corpus callosum is a huge bundle of nerve fibers found in mammalian brains. It is the connection between the hemispheres the right and the left sides of the brain.
  4.     .      Broca’s area was discovered by Pierre Paul Broca and was named after him in 1861. Broca discovered the area after studying the brain of a patient with speech impairment after his death. The study included a patient Broca had called Tan who died and was speechless. Broca perfomed a detailed post-moterm examination on his brain.
  5.             Split-brain evidence came to be during the 1960s by Roger Sperry and his colleagues. In the 19th century researches made on certain peoples brain injuries made it possible to suspect that the “language center” in the brain was located on the left hemisphere. People with lesions in two specific areas on the left side lost their ability to talk.
  6.       .     Karl Wernicke a German neuroanatomist, pathologist, and psychiatrist made fundamental discoveries about the brain and its functions. The Wernicke’s area involved understanding of language, in the posterior portion of the left temporal lobe. Wernicke’s area is associated with the processing of words that we hear being spoken, or language inputs.
  7.          The Occipital Lobe
  8.     .    The Temporal Lobe
     9. Parietal Lobe
     10. .Frontal Lobe

Phineas Gage

Phineas Gage was one of the most famous people to suffer a brain damage. Phineas accident was also the first incident that helped the scientists find out the relationship between the personality and the front lobe of the brain. Phineas was a former at the railroad construction and there was where his accident took place. On September 13 of 1848 the accident of the iron going through his head. The tamping iron was 3 feet and 7 inches long. The tamping iron went through his left cheek bone and completely out of the top of his head landing about 25 to 30 feet behind him. He was knocked down but did not lose his conciseness after the impact. Phineas because of the injury he lost his eye and the frontal lobe of his brain. Phineas personality started changing causing the people around him to worry because of his behavior and how he became rood and bad to people at work. Scientists after Phineas death found that each part of the brain had a certain function and in the case of Phineas and his frontal lobe it controlled his personality causing him to be rude to everyone. Brain localization means or is what the scientists discovered because of Phineas case that each part of the brain has a certain function or work to do that connects to the whole body and how to act or controlling our emotions and feelings. The brain lateralization is the division of the brain and what the right part of the brain specificly controls and what the left part of the brain controls.

Homosexuality Nature or Nurture?

There has been a big debate in the field of science between the famous term of nature and nurture. The question that has been debated about these two terms is that if some things come by nature or by genetics. Many things may come by genetics because of their parent’s genes and also some things may be changed in your body or your way of acting by nurture or the environment in which you live and are born. This debate has many topics that have been created like athletic ability, intelligence, criminal behavior, personality, homosexuality and creativity. The topic that I chose to talk about and research in depth was homosexuality. In my opinion this case can be both nature and nurture because some kids are simply born with genes of their oppose sex or can because of their environment that can be very girly in a case of a boy and very boyish for a girls and because of that they become homosexuals.
Scientists and psychologists have debated these topics since the early 1930s and where they have still not found a clear example of were homosexuality comes by the genes or by the environment that surround us. Some scientist’s belief that making their decision if they decide to change their sexuality or not because there is no clear example that homosexuality DNA born in people exists or that homosexuality has a gene. Homosexuality has been a topic not accepted for a huge amount of the society especially the religious one because they confirm that God’s idea of creating Adam and Eve provides a clear explanation that homosexuality is not a natural thing. There has been test and examinations to prove whether if homosexuality comes in genes or is influenced by the society or their environment. There has been a research in which they concluded and founded evidence of actual women genes in a boy’s body this causing the kid to become gay because of the women gene that was passed from his mom. Also they have researched by interviewing kids, which are gays and asking them questions of why they become gay or if they really inside of them feel like a girl. In some occasions they concluded that it could have been clearly their environment because maybe a little boy could be surrounded of pure and only girls causing him to become one and think like them. In this topic clearly there is no final answer on which if homosexuality comes by nature or nurture because it could be both.
In conclusion, this topic could continue be debated because there are millions examples of where homosexuality comes from the genes or by nature and if it comes because of the environment in which they leave and the people that surround them. Homosexuality in some occasions can be clearly seen when a kid arrives to his teen age dreams but in some occasions and very really homosexuality can be seen in kids since they are born. After doing my research about this topic I continued with my statement that homosexuality can be both of nature or nurture.
